Upstairs has a large open kitchen and living space with two bedrooms, two full baths and a sleeping loft with two twin mattresses. Our downstairs comes with an open kitchen and living space with two bedrooms and one full bathroom. Both of our eat-in open kitchens with breakfast bars (down and upstairs) are equipped with basic kitchen needs to cook family meals. We also have two grills, one charcoal and the other gas. Our comfortable 1 bedroom/1 bath condo is located on the 2nd floor (Unit F13) of George's Lighthouse Pointe on Ochlockonee Bay, 40 miles south of Tallahassee on Hwy. 98. Right outside our front door is a balcony where you can enjoy a gorgeous view of the bay. To the back of us, there is a wonderful view of the marina. Just a few steps away is Angelo's Restaurant, regularly voted as one of the 'Top 100 Restaurants in Florida'. Angelo's boasts mouth watering seafood (and other dishes), with indoor seating and casual outdoor seating right over the water! We offer 874 sq. ft. of living area, which includes 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom, den, kitchen and balcony overlooking the bay. The family area is furnished with comfortable den furniture, 34 in. TV, DVD, and offers a great view of the bay. This area is is separated from the kitchen by a bar. Our bedroom is furnished with a king-size bed and a twin bed and a small hideaway cot (suitable for a child under age 10). These accommodations will sleep 3 to 4 people comfortably. Perfect for a couple or small family. The fishing is as good as it gets in this area. You can fish in the bay, head out for deep-sea fishing, or go down the river for fresh water fishing. We have it all!!! You can book a fishing charter with your choice of licensed captains, who are ready to take you out for an experience that you won't soon forget! Although many fishermen prefer to bring their own boat, boat trailers are not allowed in the common areas of George's Lighthouse Pointe and the condo only has one parking space. Another local attraction are the beaches. The closest beach is Mashes Sands in Panacea (less than 1 mi.). It offers a beautiful, small beach. The beach is located on the bay and is pretty shallow for a good ways out, offering safety for small children and a great opportunity for shelling. Next are the gorgeous beaches at Alligator Point and Bald Point State Park (about 7 mi.), where you can enjoy sunbathing, snorkeling, swimming, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, hiking, bird watching and nature study. Within a few minutes drive are two of the nation's TOP TEN RATED BEACHES, St. George Island State Park, near Apalachicola, and St. Joseph Peninsula State Park, near Port St. Joe. Both parks contain miles of undeveloped beaches, emerald waters and white sugar sand. Other nearby attractions include St. Vincent National Wildlife Refuge, an unspoiled barrier island just offshore from the mouth of the Apalachicola River in the Gulf of Mexico. The island is a haven for endangered and threatened species, including bald eagles, wood storks, sea turtles, indigo snakes, gopher tortoises and red wolves. It is accessible only by boat. A favorite is Wakulla Springs State Park, one of the world's deepest freshwater springs, with swimming, nature boat rides and glass bottom boats. Wakulla Springs is known as the filming location for several Tarzan movies, Creature from the Black Lagoon and Airport '77. From the river boat and glass bottom boat tours, you can see alligators, many species of wading birds, water fowl, fish, turtles, and snakes, in and among the crystal clear waters emerging from the depth of the springs. Kids love diving from the diving platform into the refreshing spring waters, which remain a constant 68-70 degrees year round. The St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge offers a habitat for all kinds of Florida wildlife. Smarter Travel recently voted the refuge as one of the top 10 wildlife refuges in America. At this swampy wildlife refuge, alligators can reach lengths of 14 feet. It's unusual not to spot them here in the marshes along the road to the 1832 St. Marks Lighthouse on Apalachee Bay. Photographers say the lighthouse is the best place to snap shots of hordes of monarch butterflies during the butterflies' annual migration in October. Whooping cranes and more than 300 other bird species stop over at St. Marks, and 98 species nest on-site. In May, watch for large groups of West Indian manatees in the waters near the lighthouse. Baby alligators emerge from nests in August. Keep your eyes peeled for bald eagles. So the guys want to go fishing and you ladies don't ... NO PROBLEM! While they are catching speckled trout, Spanish mackerel, grouper, redfish (the list goes on), you can visit historic Apalachicola. Once a bustling sea port, this quaint village of about 5,000 still boasts a large shrimp fleet, a downtown shopping area with antiques, boutiques and local art, and beautiful restored houses from a bygone era. Once the third largest cotton port along the Gulf Coast, the Apalachicola/East Point area still harvests and processes 90% of the oysters consumed in Florida. Locally caught seafood is prepared in the many fine restaurants located in Panacea, Carrabelle, and Apalachicola. If you prefer to cook it yourself, fresh shrimp, oysters, and the catch of the day are available in the seafood houses dotted along the coast from Panacea to Port St. Joe. *** Sorry, but we do not rent to anyone under the age of 25. *** CANCELLATION POLICY: We understand that it may become necessary for you to cancel your reservation. Please let us know as soon as you can, so that we may have time to rent out your time slot. Refund Policy: 14 days (100% refund); 7 days (50% refund). Fishing: For the fisherman, the fishing is as good as it gets and there is an assortment of USCG licensed captains that will be more than willing to book a charter and take you out into the bay for a fishing experience that you will never forget. We have year round fishing, with different species here at different times. Trout and redfish are the most sought after fish and can be caught all year long. Tarpon are here from June till August, and cobia will show up in the early spring as the water warms and will stay until fall. Other fish that may be caught on the flats are Spanish Mackerel, blue fish, sheepshead, flounder, ladyfish and a numerous variety of sharks to 250 pounds. Many prefer to head out for deeper waters to catch grouper and snapper. Golf: For the golfer, Wildwood Country Club is a beautiful public golf course located on Hwy. 98 in Medart (less than 10 minute drive). Tennis: For the tennis buff, there are 6 lighted tennis courts across the street from the golf course at Wakulla High School on Hwy. 98 in Medart. Paradise Village also has a tennis court. Biking: Tallahassee-St. Marks Historic Railroad State Trail stretches about 20.5 miles from Tallahassee south to St. Marks. Hiking: There are many nature trails to choose from, along with some paved trails. St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge and all of the state parks have hiking trails. Be sure to take bug spray, unless you are hiking in the wintertime. Nearby state parks include Wakulla Springs, Bald Point, San Marcos de Apalache, and Ochlockonee River. Birding & Wildlife: If you have come looking for the call of the wild, then you come to the right place. With vast acres of undeveloped lands and protected wildlife sanctuaries, our natural areas support an unbelievable abundance of wildlife with verified counts of over 300 species of migratory and nesting birds; 52 species of mammals such as the West Indian manatee and Florida black bear; 40 species of amphibians, and 65 species of reptiles. Wakulla Springs was the site for filming the early Tarzan movies, The Creature from the Black Lagoon, and Airport 77. From the river boat and glass bottom boat tours, you can see alligators, many species of water fowl, fish, turtles, snakes, and deer, in and among the crystal clear waters emerging from the depth of the springs. They also have a swimming area, with a diving platform. Kids love it and you will, too. The water stays the same temperature all year round. It's very refreshing in the heat of the summertime. Beaches: For the beach enthusiast, nearby beaches include St. Joseph's Peninsula State Park and St. George's Island, which are regularly voted into the top ten beaches in the world (an hour to an hour and a half drive). Shell Point Beach is about a block from Noah's Place. It is a very, very small beach located on the bay, which means that the only waves that you will see will be on a very windy day. It doesn't compare to the other two beaches mentioned earlier, but it is very convenient and a great place to kick back and enjoy the abundant wildlife in and surrounding the bay, along with breathtaking sunsets. Other nearby beaches include Mashes Sands Beach (which has a fishing pier), Alligator Point Beach (25 miles) and Carrabelle Beach (40 miles). Check-in time is 4pm – check-out time is 11am. Sorry, no early check-in or late check-out. All reservations are subject to additional STATE GOVERNMENT restrictions and guidelines. ***** Enjoy a million dollar view from our comfortable 3 bedroom, 2 bath canal front home, which overlooks the beautiful Apalachee Bay and Gulf of Mexico. Our sunroom covers the entire back side of the house, where you can relax and watch the boats come in at sunset ... or serve up some fresh catch for your family ... or just enjoy the gulf breeze from one of our easy chairs. Our large family room (which includes the den, dining room, and kitchen) has a wall of windows and glass doors which look out onto the sunroom and share the same view. If you are a bird watcher, you will be entertained daily by pelicans, white egrets, and blue herons. Also, keep your eyes peeled for bald eagles. They hang out at the St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge and around Spring Creek and we are right in the middle. We encourage folks to bring their boat. Our dock is located on a deep-water canal and is convenient to a nearby boat ramp. The Apalachee Bay offers some of the best flats fishing anywhere. You can catch speckled sea trout, redfish, Spanish mackerel, flounder, cobia, and tarpon. If you venture offshore, you can catch grouper, kingfish ... and anything else that might be swimming around in the gulf. We are located in Shell Point, FL, which is a very small, quiet neighborhood. Our top two floors will be open for your use (our ground level floor is used for our personal storage). The second floor consists of the family room, dining area, fully equipped kitchen, sunroom, 2 bedrooms, 1 bath, and laundry room. The third floor consists of the master bedroom, bath, and a large private deck (which offers an even more spectacular view). The family room is furnished with a comfortable sofa and love-seat combo and a fully equipped entertainment center, with 32' TV. Our ccommodations will sleep 6-8 people comfortably and consist of 3 queen-size beds and 2 twin beds (trundle bed). We also invite you to chill out by our private swimming pool, which faces the canal. Shell Point is located in Wakulla County, one of Florida's best-kept secrets and part of Florida's forgotten coast. It's ideal for those who like sightseeing or photography. Wakulla Springs State Park, one of the largest fresh water springs in the world, is only 10 minutes away. The St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge (10 minutes away), which features the St. Marks Lighthouse, offers habitat for all kinds of Florida wildlife. For a close-up, hands-on examination of marine life, you can check out the Gulf Specimen Marine Lab in Panacea, which is 20 minutes away. Also, the Tallahassee Museum of History and Natural Science is about 30 minutes away, and offers a look at Florida's wildlife in a natural setting. There are other recreational interests in the immediate area. For the tennis buff, there are 6 lighted tennis courts in Medart at Wakulla High School. For the fisherman, the fishing is as good as it gets and there is an assortment of USCG licensed captains that will be more than willing to book a charter and take you out into the bay for a fishing experience that you will never forget. Shell Point is a great place for windsurfing and hosts several Regattas each year. For the beach enthusiast, nearby beaches include St. Joseph's Peninsula State Park and St. George's Island, which are regularly voted into the top ten beaches in the world (an hour to an hour and a half drive). Shell Point Beach is less than a block from The Webb House. For those who enjoy great seafood, Angelo's in Panacea (20 minutes away) is one of the finest renowned seafood restaurants anywhere - located right on the water. Nearby Spring Creek Restaurant (less than 10 minutes away) also boasts delicious seafood, including soft shell crab, along with a casual down-home atmosphere. If you decide to rent with us, we will send you a list of all of the nearby restaraunts, along with our personal rating on each one. Shell Point is located between St. Marks and Panacea, and is only 30 miles south of Tallahassee (Florida's capital). Tallahassee has all of the conveniences of a big city - malls, restaurants, museums, parks, airport - and is well known for being the home of Florida State University (FSU) and Florida A& M University (FAMU). If you want to escape to a relaxing, laid back paradise; yet, be able to venture into the city on a whim, this is the perfect location for you. *** Sorry, we do not accept renters under the age of 25. *** CANCELLATION POLICY: We understand that it may become necessary for you to cancel your reservation. Please let us know as soon as you can, so that we may have time to rent out your time slot. Refund Policy: 14 days (100% refund); 7 days (50% refund). Live like a king in our luxurious 4 bedroom, 3 bath home located on Ochlockonee Bay, 40 miles south of Tallahassee off Hwy. 98. The house has gorgeous top-of-the-line features (such as hardwood floors and granite kitchen counters) and is lavishly furnished. But that's not the best part! The best part is our million dollar view of Ochlockonee Bay from almost every room in the house, along with our convenient location to great fishing, remarkable golfing, out-of-this-world seafood, and some gorgeous beaches! We offer approximately 2,500 sq. ft. of spacious living area. Skip the steps, and take a ride on our elevator to enter each level of the house. On our first floor, take your pick from 3 bedrooms (1 king, 1 queen, double bunk (double on bottom / twin on top) & 1 double sleeper sofa) and 2 bathrooms, which adjoin a large open porch running the entire length of the house and shaded by the upstairs porch. The second floor contains the kitchen, dining room, living room, king-size master bedroom and master bathroom. This area is adjacent to a large screened-in porch that also runs the length of the house. Kick back and relax on either porch and watch the boats come and go ... or, step right down to the dock and try your luck at fishing. You will be so comfortable and relaxed here, that you will never want to go home! Our accommodations will sleep 8 people comfortably. Perfect for your family or group of friends! The fishing is as good as it gets in this area. You can fish in the bay, head out for deep-sea fishing, or go down the river for fresh water fishing. We have it all!!! If you bring your boat, you can launch it nearby and then tie it to the pilings of the dock for the rest of your stay. Since the dock is stationary, the owner will leave his jet ski lift remote for you to get down to your boat. If you don't have a boat, you can book a fishing charter with your choice of licensed captains, who are ready to take you for an experience that you won't soon forget! For the golfer, St. James Bay is about 15 miles away on Hwy. 98 in Carrabelle. This 18-hole championship course, with its perfectly manicured fairways and scenic golf paths, blends seamlessly and in complete harmony with acres of wetland preserve, abundant wildlife and unspoiled forest. The course creates a challenge for even the most skillful golfer, yet it's still a course golfers of all abilities seem to love. And, of course, there are the beaches. The closest beach is Mashes Sands (about 2 miles). It offers a beautiful, small beach and a fishing pier. The beach is located on the bay and it's calm shallow waters offer safety for small children and a great opportunity for shelling. Wakulla Springs is known as the shooting location for several Tarzan movies, Creature from the Black Lagoon and Airport '77. The St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge features the St. Marks lighthouse, and offers a habitat for all kinds of Florida wildlife. (Bald eagles are often spotted here - so keep your eyes peeled!) So the guys want to go fishing or golfing and you ladies don't ...NO ROBLEM! You can visit historic Apalachicola. Joe. Our comfortable 1 bedroom/2 bath condo is located on the 2nd floor of George's Lighthouse Pointe on Ochlockonee Bay, 40 miles south of Tallahassee on Hwy. 98. We offer a huge wrap around balcony, which offers views of the Ochlockonee Bay, the marina and the pool. Just a few steps away is Angelo's Restaurant, regularly voted as one of the 'Top 100 Restaurants in Florida'. Angelo's boasts mouth-watering seafood (and other dishes), with indoor seating and casual outdoor seating right over the water! We offer 945 sq. ft. of living area, which includes 1 bedroom, 2 baths, den, kitchen, laundry area and wrap around balcony overlooking the bay. The family area is furnished with comfortable den furniture, queen sleeper sofa, 55 in. TV (Comcast Cable Xfinity HD, with HBO channels), and offers a great view of the marina. This area is open to the fully equipped kitchen. Our bedroom is furnished with a king-size bed and 27 in. TV (same cable service). The bedroom offers a small window view of the pool. These accommodations will sleep 2 to 4 people comfortably. The closest beach is Mashes Sands in Panacea (2 mi.). Most of the roads, ponds and levees in St. Marks NWR were originally built in the 1930’s by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), part of Roosevelt’s New Deal after the Great Depression. The ponds range from fresh water to salt, accommodating the many species of migratory birds passing through Florida’s Big Bend. We take several hikes around ponds to observatories and along the levees, marveling at the variety of grasses and wildflowers. Butterflies are everywhere, including the migratory monarchs passing through the NWR on their way to Mexico for the winter. Toward the end of the Civil War, the area of St. Marks was strategically important to the Confederate Army for delivery of supplies and to the Union Army trying to capture the capital, Tallahassee. The Union regiment, which came ashore here at the Lighthouse, was repulsed at Natural Bridge (where the St. Marks River goes underground), but not before destroying several bridges and the salt factory, essential for preserving food for the Confederate troops. To find out how our guests who have been on the tours enjoyed their trip, please read about them in our guest comments. Hope you will give them a call and take advantage of this special opportunity while staying at the Retreat. Happy paddling!! Guest Comments This is our second stay here and we know we will be back again. We so appreciate the beauty and natural setting of this place. In our two visits here, we have enjoyed seeing deer, owls (right outside our windows) and numerous Florida birds hanging out on the river. Our hosts Floyd and Carolyn were attentive and available to our needs. The Seinyard restaurant has definitely become one of our favorite places to eat (awesome food) and we make sure we visit it every time we are blessed enough to come back to visit. Thank you Floyd and Carolyn for sharing your Retreat Joe and Debra Lutz, Florida This place is amazing! We have fallen in love with the breathtaking and extremely relaxing environment. The jumping fish were hysterical! However, the cows walking in the river topped the fish. The house was perfect and had every thing we needed. Thank you so much for an amazing weekend. We will be back! Cory & Amber Well, what can we say except the location was superb. The interior design is a testament to all your hard work and imagination. Spotlessly clean. So tranquil and relaxing sitting on the dock in the morning. The beds are some of the most comfortable we have had the pleasure to sleep in. The nighttime chorus (of the crickets and frogs) is something we will always remember. Great fun trying to catch the uncooperative mullet in the river, but we did catch one at the Seinyard restaurant and it was mind blowing. So, Floyd and Carolyn, thank you very much for a wonderful Retreat. “Haste ye back” Martin & Julia Edinburg, Scotland What an awesome experience! Our accommodations were unsurpassable, and, to say the least, our trip was a success. Now that we found you it goes without saying you’ll be stuck with us and our soon-to-be FSU student. We’ll be seeing you again. Elise & Larry Coral Springs, Florida We really enjoyed our stay at the St. Marks Retreat. We paddled our canoes on the St. Marks, Sopchoppy, Wacissa and Aucilla rivers. All lovely. Tons of birds, otters, alligators and turtles. We also went hiking at Leon Sinks and biking on the St. Marks Trail. This cabin is delightful- quiet, peaceful and very clean. There are more rivers and trails to enjoy, so we will be back. Lois, John & Jocelyn Traverse City, Michigan Floyd, it has been a pleasure meeting you and staying at the St. Marks Retreat. After working 11 years in the hotel industry, I have to say this is the cleanest and one of the best decorated properties I have ever seen. The nature and river next to the Retreat is good for mind, soul and body. The St. Marks Retreat is the Best! Robert and Family Jacksonville, Florida This was our first sort of wilderness vacation, and the Retreat didn’t let us down. Very serene and relaxing. Spotted a very large owl outside the cabin (approximately 2 ½ feet tall)- very wild and scruffy looking. We saw many deer on the road coming in and more up close in the wildlife refuge. We also spotted a black bear in the Apalachicola National Forest. We enjoyed the good fresh seafood at the Seinyard Restaurant. The cabin was indeed clean, quaint and comfortable. The location and atmosphere proved to be the natural and relaxing stetting we desired. Ted & Cindy Cape Coral, Florida What a wonderful vacation! This cabin is so cozy. Everything was clean and comfortable. We had a great honeymoon here. Thank you for the fruit, snacks, coffee and hot chocolate. That was a nice treat. We will be back. Take care and God bless you both. Dustin & Naomi What a lovely place. Everything was very nice. You’ve taken the time to make this a truly neat visit. Our children enjoyed netting the fish and playing in the water. Saw lots of birds, spiders, fish, deer. I even got up extra early just to enjoy the peaceful setting. Enjoyed the surrounding area, Wakulla Springs (saw a manatee), the lighthouse, the town of St. Marks. Thanks again. We will recommend this place, and we will be back. Our son says this is our new Florida home. Al, Marcy, Ally & Natalie Harrison, MI Thank you so much for this amazing experience. This was the best anniversary we have ever had. We saw all sorts of wildlife and relaxed more than we’ve been able to in a long time. We really look forward to coming back. We can’t thank you enough for everything. Jessica & Terry Thanks for letting us stay here for our 25th anniversary. The house is just the right size for us, and the surroundings are fabulous. We love this area. We even caught and ate scallops. We saw an abundance of wildlife. Sincerely, Liz, Mike & Jessica Keywords: Cabin
